Doing Big Things…

Bigger than my problems

HOPE

Galatians 6:9 – “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lost heart.”

Luke 18:27 – “Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Reflections: We serve a big God who is able to do big things. I have to remind myself of this sometimes, when the prayer or petition in my heart seems too big, too much to ask, too improbable to sustain my belief that God will bring it to pass. But the Word tells us that what is impossible for man is possible for God (Luke 18:27), and that if we believe, our faith can move mountains.

This reality is especially true in situations where our petitions align with a promise God has already made to us. It may seem like we’ve waited forever for its fulfillment, to the point where we become wary of hoping and trusting—but though it lingers, wait for it, it will certainly come to pass (Habakkuk 2:3). If God has given you a vision, a calling, or a promise for big things in the future, don’t lose hope, and don’t grow weary in well-doing; for in due season, you SHALL reap if you do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9). Now THAT’S a promise you can count on. 🙂

Don’t Give Up

PERSISTENCE

Galatians 6:9 – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Reflections: Have you ever wanted to just throw in the towel? Oftentimes, we try so hard to fulfill a purpose or a goal set before us; but despite our efforts, we find ourselves missing the mark the first, second, or even third time we try. Reaching for our goals can be particularly challenging when we are working in our calling; because we must battle not only our flesh (telling us we don’t have what it takes), but also the attacks of the enemy, who wants nothing more than to see us fail and give up altogether.

The reality is that we’re not always going to get it right the first time we try, and we might not always meet with resounding success during our initial efforts, despite all of our good intentions. But the Word tells us not to grow weary in well-doing, because at the proper time (God’s time, not our own), we will reap a harvest if we stand firm, have faith, and DO NOT GIVE UP (Galatians 6:9).

Keep going, keep trying, keep pushing forward towards the mark. God would not have called you to it if He didn’t know that you could do it. 🙂 Just trust Him to see you through and know that you can do and endure all things through Christ, who gives you strength.

“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe
